Sarah’s Dumps: Korean Mandu

For the longest time, we’ve wanted to feature dumplings at one of our dinners. We were thrilled when we found Sarah. And we love her story.

MEET YOUR CHEF

Chef Sarah Williams-Scalise

Sarah Williams-Scalise was born in South Korea and raised in Upstate NY. After graduating from Nazareth College, she lived in Boston, Warwick, Pittsburgh, and Charlotte before moving to Charleston, SC in 2015. She began working at Blueprint Insurance Group in the spring of 2017, using it as a platform to build community and create relationships with her clients.

In the fall of 2019, Sarah and her husband created a new business called Sarah's Dumps - combining her story of adoption and the experience of Korean mandu. They manufacture frozen mandu and sell through small retailers within the greater Charleston area, host dumpling-making classes, and monthly pop-ups with a full menu of Korean-inspired fare. But the greatest accomplishment for Sarah, now, is being a mom to toddler Julius.
