How It Works
Nothing brings people together like sharing a meal.
During a time of deep polarization and the rise of anti-Asian hate, antisemitism, attack on LGBTQ rights, and pervasive systemic racism, it’s important now more than ever that we show up around the table, where we can slow down and see each other as individuals. The labels, stereotypes, preconceived ideas, and assumptions we often make about each other disappear, and we realize that we don’t have to be the same to belong.
Who
Anyone interested in expanding their heart and mind is welcome to the table. Curious about where other perspectives come from? Unsure why others have different beliefs? Ready to take a step and have a conversation to help make the world a better place? Transformation Table is where connection happens, conversations begin and understanding occurs.
Why
It’s all about connection. Transformation Table's cornerstone is bringing people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives together. The requirement to attend a Transformation Table dinner? An open heart and mind. Home-based dinners are limited to 10 guests to ensure maximum conversation and connection. Community dinners can accommodate more depending on the need.
What
It’s all about the food! Transformation Table recruits diverse local chefs and home cooks to prepare sumptuous multi-course meals using locally sourced ingredients. The chefs who cook for Transformation Table are as diverse as the people around the table and are passionate about sharing their food stories and cultural roots. One of our chefs describes cooking as the unspoken love language. We couldn’t agree more.
Where
Transformation Table can happen in a home or a community. Individuals can host a Transformation Table in their home for 10 people. Community organizations can also curate a Transformation Table for conversation-driven dinner events between guests. Dinners can be hosted in homes or through nonprofits or cultural institutions. “The most wonderful night. Thank you for enlightenment, love and laughter.”
