Hands On! - a traditional Ethiopian dinner with Dereje Deres

  • Johns Island, SC U.S. (map)

Our Chef for October is Dereje Deres…
but you can call him Glad.

In case you haven’t noticed It’s difficult to find Ethiopian food in Charleston. Glad searched for good teff flour to make injera (fermented pancaked-like flatbread with slightly spongy texture) and brought back spices from Addis Ababa. He learned to cook the recipes passed down to him from his family in Ethiopia and now he cooks up amazing Ethiopian food for friends and family.

Glad also has a passion for film and photography and attended film and media school in Addis Ababa (it’s a great story; you’ll have to ask him about it).

This is our first time hosting a dinner with Ethiopian cuisine. We can’t wait. You won’t want to miss this one. Welcome to Transformation Table, Glad!

Payments above $100 are sincerely appreciated and will help us cover the expenses for those who may require financial assistance to attend our dinners.

Due to the size of our Tables, if you are unable to attend a dinner that you have already paid for, please feel free to give your seat to another community member, family, or friend. No refunds.
